Navigate your path to studying in Canada with expert guidance and personalized support throughout the application process.
What is a Study Permit
A study permit is a document issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) that allows foreign nationals to study at a designated learning institution (DLI) in Canada. You need one if your program is longer than six months. A DLI is a school approved by a province or territory to host international students.
To apply, you must have a letter of acceptance from a DLI, demonstrate sufficient funds for tuition and living expenses, and satisfy IRCC that you will leave Canada when your permit expires. You may also need a provincial attestation letter (PAL) depending on your program and institution.
Study permits can include work authorization for on-campus or off-campus employment during your studies. Graduates of eligible programs may apply for a post-graduation work permit (PGWP), which can lead to Canadian work experience and pathways to permanent residence.
