Family Sponsorship
Reunite with your loved ones in Canada. Professional support for sponsoring spouses, children, parents, and other eligible family members.
What is Family Sponsorship
Family sponsorship allows Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor certain relatives to become permanent residents of Canada. Sponsors commit to financially supporting the sponsored person for a specified period (typically 3 to 10 years depending on the relationship and age of the sponsored person).
Eligible relationships include spouses, common-law partners, conjugal partners, dependent children, parents, and grandparents. Parents and grandparents sponsorship operates through an invitation-based intake; sponsors must submit an interest form and may be invited to apply. Spousal and dependent child sponsorship applications are submitted directly without an invitation.
Sponsors must meet income requirements for parents and grandparents; spousal and child sponsorships generally do not have minimum income thresholds. Sponsors must not be undischarged bankrupts, under a removal order, or in prison, and must not have defaulted on previous sponsorship undertakings.
